Chris Klein joined our coaching staff in Fall, 2008. Chris plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy, primarily as a right wing. 2010 is his 13th year in MLS. He has played in over 320 MLS games, scoring 49 goals while serving up 67 assists. In 2009, Chris set the MLS record for consecutive games played -- 141. In 2007, Chris was voted the MVP of the L.A. Galaxy. He has 22 caps (games played) with the U.S. National Team (5 goals).
Currently, Chris's role with NMSC is to coach our Boys U9 team and he works with our Academy (ages 5-9) and our New Jr. Waves program for boys and girls U7 & U8. Chris also circulates throughout the club's teams, running the same type of training sessions as the Galaxy and infusing his trademarks of hard work and enthusiasm for all of kids.
Chris has a degree in Business from Indiana University (where he played his college ball). He lives locally with his wife and two children.
The Newport Mesa Soccer Club, our parents and our players are very fortunate to have been chosen by such a professional athlete. Chris is an outstanding role model and we are blessed to have him.
